Troubleshooting Tips for Your WiFi Smart Switch
Share
At Lykalyte, we pride ourselves on delivering reliable and innovative smart home solutions. However, as with any tech product, occasional hiccups can occur. One issue some of our customers have encountered is that the physical buttons on their WiFi Smart Switch become unresponsive, even though the app control remains fully functional.
The good news? There’s an easy fix! Here’s what to do if you’re experiencing this issue:
Step 1: Power Cycle the Switch
- Locate your home’s switchboard.
- Turn off the lighting circuit that powers your switches.
- Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute before turning it back on.
This simple action resets the switches and often resolves the issue.
Step 2: Update the Firmware
Sometimes, a recent firmware update can help address bugs and improve performance. Follow these steps to ensure your switch is running the latest firmware:
- Open the smart home app and select the switch in question.
- Tap the pencil icon (Settings) in the top-right corner.
- Scroll down to Device Update and select Update Firmware if an update is available.
- While you’re there, toggle on Auto Upgrade to ensure your devices stay up to date automatically.
Why Does This Happen?
Smart home devices rely on both hardware and software working seamlessly together. Occasionally, software updates or power fluctuations can disrupt the connection between the physical buttons and the switch’s internal system. A quick reset or firmware update usually resolves this.
